For more than 45 years, Fire Security Services has helped New Zealand organisations protect their people, property and businesses through trusted fire protection and building compliance services.
Founded in Hamilton in 1978, FSS has grown from a local Waikato business into one of New Zealand’s leading Kiwi owned fire protection and building compliance providers.
Today, more than 320 FSS employees, supported by our long-standing South Island Partner Agents, deliver services across New Zealand. We test and maintain fire protection systems across more than 11,000 sites and manage more than 4,300 Building Warrants of Fitness for our customers.
From a single commercial property to some of New Zealand’s largest national property portfolios, our goal remains the same: make fire protection and building compliance simpler, more transparent and easier to manage.
OUR STORY
Fire Security Services was founded in Hamilton in 1978 on a simple belief: looking after customers should always come first.
From the beginning, FSS set out to make fire protection and building compliance easier for New Zealand organisations through straightforward advice, dependable service and practical solutions.
As our industry has evolved, so have we. We’ve invested in our people, technical capability, training, systems and technology, while expanding our reach across New Zealand.
Despite that growth, the principle FSS was founded on has not changed. We want to understand our customers, make their lives easier and deliver an industry-leading customer experience.

We provide planned inspection and testing, maintenance, reactive servicing, system installation and upgrades, compliance management and 24-hour emergency support, 365 days a year.

Technology plays an important part in delivering that consistency. Our Uptick fire protection and compliance management platform provides customers with real-time visibility of their properties, testing, defects, service activity and compliance documentation through a dedicated customer portal.
Behind the technology are our people. Uptick helps our technicians deliver consistent inspection and testing, access asset and service information on site, capture photographs, record defects and keep information accurate and accessible.
